Committee co-chair participates in NASA meeting

Bob Baer, staff member in SIU Carbondale’s physics department and co-chair of the university’s eclipse planning committee, will participate in a NASA Panel Review meeting Jan. 19-21 in Dallas.

The meeting is for the 27 organizations recently selected by NASA to enter into negotiations for cooperative agreements as NASA Science Education Partners. Of the 27 organizations, three were selected to support science education associated with the 2017 total solar eclipse over North America.

Baer is a member of one of these three groups, the Citizen CATE (Continental America Telescopic Eclipse) Experiment, which will use a fleet of telescopes across the country to observe the eclipse.
