Join SIU Carbondale for a four-day total solar eclipse festival at the Solar Eclipse Crossroads of America on the centerline of the path of totality. The SIU Carbondale campus will experience 4 minutes and 9 seconds of totality as the region is cast into darkness in the middle of the day. Be prepared to witness the full range of total solar eclipse phenomenon and have your senses and emotions overwhelmed by the unexplainable experience of standing in the shadow of the Moon as you watch the Sun disappear.
The horseshoe-shaped facility has a seating capacity of 15,000. Seating includes chairback seats as well as bleacher seating and spots on the grass berm enclosing the north end zone.

The Chalk-eclipse is an annual regional junior high and high school chalk competition held on the SIU campus. This year the artwork will explore eclipse related imagery. The Chalk-eclipse competition is organized by local art educators with the help of SIU ArtED. It is hosted on campus by the Art Education Nation RSO.
In this talk hosted by Lou Mayo, we'll explore the history of eclipses, transits, occultations, and conjunctions, with a focus on this year's total solar eclipse across America, the last until 2044. Lou Mayo is a planetary scientist with over 30 years of NASA experience, brings expertise in planetary research and education programs.
The Unity Point School Band and Choir will be joined by members of five other local schools to present a concert celebrating the total eclipse. The concert will feature three world premieres including a band piece written specially for the total solar eclipse.
This 5K run/walk is held by Arnold Air Society out of SIUC. Proceeds from the race will be used to promote the professional development of Air and Space Force officer candidates at SIUC.
