Evergreen Park – SOLD OUT
Evergreen Park, located at 1205 W. Pleasant Hill Road
Close to campus, Evergreen Park offers new accessible bathrooms, fishing at a 135-acre lake, and a great place for a picnic or to enjoy the playground. With the newly paved roads, parking lots, and sidewalks within the park, Evergreen is more accessible than ever. This pop-up campground provides ADA-accessible restroom facilities, a portable shower trailer, a community cooking and gathering pavilion, and onsite trash and recycling. This pop-up campground does not have potable water or electricity. Located 2.5 miles away from downtown Carbondale, bring your kayaks, fishing poles, bikes, hiking boots, and more- the endless recreation opportunities are endless. There are multiple packages priced per campsite with designated parking space reservation.
SIU’s Touch of Nature 2024 Eclipse Packages
One extended weekend price includes lodging, all activities and all meals on Saturday/Sunday/Monday, educational sessions, and prime eclipse viewing space. All activities will take place in our main camp, Camp 2. View packages

Shawnee National Forest
The Shawnee National Forest provides an array of camping experiences, catering to different preferences, ranging from primitive backpacking to fully equipped campgrounds with amenities such as showers and electrical sites. These campgrounds and picnic areas are strategically located in proximity to lakes and areas of extraordinary natural beauty, offering campers the chance to indulge in activities like hiking, fishing, and sightseeing. It’s important to note that campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, as reservations are not accepted. Generally, the campgrounds operate from April 1 to December 15, with some exceptions. This timeframe coincides with various recreational opportunities, including the highly anticipated 2024 solar eclipse, making it an ideal destination for a memorable camping experience.
Giant City Park
Nestled within the captivating landscapes of Giant City, an exhilarating weekend retreat awaits, brimming with diverse and meticulously maintained campground facilities.
