SIU Student Info

Classes on Eclipse Day (Monday, April 8) will be canceled, but the university will be open. Students will not be in class that day and are encouraged to participate in the exciting events and activities on campus. All offices will be open throughout the day but may close for a period during the afternoon so everyone can experience totality. It is up to the supervisor of an office as to how office hours are handled on Monday, April 8. The university encourages all employees and students to get out, volunteer and experience the eclipse on campus that day.

Tickets

The student section at Saluki Stadium is set aside for students attending Eclipse Day. If you’re a current SIU student with a valid ID, you can enter the event for free. We’ll check your ID as you come in and give you a ticket for the student section. Remember, this section is just for students, and seats are first come, first served.

Please note, because this is a big event, there’s only a limited number of tickets available. You can get your student ticket at the gate with your SIU student ID when doors open at 11 a.m. You can also pick up tickets between 9-11 a.m. at the Information Tents on the north and south sides of the Banterra Center. And if you haven’t already got them, you’ll get a pair of eclipse glasses with your ticket.

Non-student guests will not be able to sit in the student section. They may purchase tickets outside the student section. Students who would like to sit with non-student guests will need to purchase a general admission ticket.
